December -2014 review

1002204_523392421109796_1604286179_n2014 was an amazing year for St.Peter’s with even more member joining the ever-expanding club.New members Gerald and Jamie have been putting in great times and Gerald Heaney getting quite a few firsts. Some notable highlights were the 5 club members who took to the streets of London in the biggest marathon in the world, Barry hitting the big 50 marathons, and the large team from the club in Dublin for the October marathon. The year started with 3 teams over 20 runners, that braved the harsh weather in the masters cross country in Lurgan Park There was also a International feel to the month of October with runners taking on the Amsterdam and the Munich Marathons.

The highlight of September for a lot of the club runners would have been the Belfast half marathon. The Beautiful September weather made it very uncomfortable for a lot of runners but great times all round, Eunan and Barry took on the Titanic endurance 50 k and proved to be quite a challenge, they both encouraged all club runners to mark a date in their diary for next year! Conor and Michelle took on the Causeway coast full and half marathons in late September and the good conditions made it a great event for Conor with a great time. September also seen the Berlin Marathon, the flattest in  Europe and Darren Whitmarch from the club came in just over 4 hours,

new race sliderAugust was Probably the quietest month With Conor, Michelle and Dwyer proving your never to old to Rock ‘N’Roll at the Dublin half marathon at the start of the month.. Barry took on a new challenge in the Letterkenny marathon and was well placed 6th overall and first in the 40+ age. . Conor and Eileen had quite an adventure in the Dervagh 26k park race in Tyrone and a bit disappointed the course was not the full distance .The Highlight of the month was the Clubs own 10k/5k race in Lurgan park, proving to be a great event, and over 150 runners taking to the pathways of the park.

Aug News Round up

Probably the quietest month in the running calendar there was only a few outings for St Peters AC Athletes, With Conor, Michelle and Dwyer proving your never to old to Rock ‘N’Roll at the Dublin half marathon at the start of the month. Every one still in holiday mood and the three rockers used it as a mosey around Dublin, but a great event and great hospitality and the most sought after medal of them all. Barry took on a new challenge in the Letterkenny marathon and was well placed 6th overall and first in the 40+ age. Yet another sub 3.12 marathon, well done Bazza! Amazing!

new race sliderThe Dambusters Half marathon proved to be challenge for most runners and Frankie Paul and Nuala clocked all good times. Conor and Eileen had quite an adventure in the Dervagh 26k park race in Tyrone and a bit disappointed the course was not the full distance and came in a bit short.

IMG_0326Park 10k/5k

The Highlight of the month was the Clubs own 10k/5k race in Lurgan park, proving to be a great event, and over 150 runners taking to the pathways of the park. Seamus was there to defend his crown but a few younger runners from Lisburn and Dromore set a blistering pace and some amazing Results recorded in the blazing sunshine.

IMG_0313With clubs as far away as Ballymena and Belfast represented the race proved to be a very competitive event, and some great results from nearly all the runners on the parks very fast course. The 3 annual park race proved to be a great race for the clubs younger members with the Murray boys taking the honors and the Mulholland girls matching the boys. Third home was Gerald Heaney in 37.58,coming behind was Sean Murphy 39.17, and Jamie in 39.44 and the defending champion Seamus all under 39.50.

The 5 k race was a new course and after a full lap of the park the runners took in a partial lap to complete the 5k course.
